Last 12 Hours - Let's Go!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Feb 28, 2024 at 04:44:25 PM

Hi All,

We are nearly there and it's been an amazing month, full of updates, info, actual plays and more. So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has backed us so far.

We are less than £300 from our third Stretch Goal. So if you are still undecided, I encourage you to take the leap. If we get there we'll add even more Adventure Locations like the one below.

I thought a little bit of hand drawn mappage might be a nice way to end. I'll be drawing the location maps myself, my one artistic streak! Each Adventure Location (we're up to 6 so far) will have 1 or 2 mapped levels, and guidance on how to expand them. There will also be descriptions of what the party might find, treasures, and site specific Deeds. So loads to get stuck into.

Anyway, this is my last content based update. I really look forward to making this game for you, and your table.

More soon,

Pete

Last 24 Hours - More Actual Plays and Iconic Artwork
over 2 years ago – Wed, Feb 28, 2024 at 04:32:24 AM

Hello Adventurers!

We are now in the final 24 hours of the campaign. It's been amazing, so thank you for all your support. We've hit two stretch goals, and it would be awesome if we hit the third before the end. Last night (while we in the UK were asleep) there were two aweome actual play streams from friends of Garblag Games.

Firstly the final part (for now) of the Adventures in Lollygagging Ode to Hommlet, with the party entering the moathouse after dealing with Darkmire Leapers and Deathsilk Spiders.

Secondly we have a great one shot from our friends over at Dieselshot. Lee has cooked up his own scenario The Baths of Lament, come and see how he and Pat handle the game.

I also wanted to show you some more artwork - this time from the fantastic Mustafa Bekirwho has been working on the iconic artwork for the Archetypes. This time we have the Volmat, the dwarf Lightbearer and the Darakar, the minotaur Wildwalker. These two are fantastic, I love Mustafa's aesthetic - it's great for the old school feel I want the book and adventures to have.

Volmat and Darakar are ready to undertake some Heroic Deeds!

These two awesome heroes will be joined by a gnome Darkdelver and an orc Battlerager very soon!

I'll no doubt do another update later, plus we have a live stream tomorrow night on the Garblag Games YouTube channel. I'll be covering the Kickstarter and saying thank you at the start of that so come join us if you can - 9pm GMT / 3pm CT.

More soon,

Pete

Last 48 Hours - FREE DODECA RPG FOR BACKERS!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Feb 27, 2024 at 09:48:45 AM

Hello adventurers!

So here we are inside the last 48 hours, and we're well over funded and rumbling along. I wanted to give you a little extra to say thank you for your support and encouragement along the way. For those already backed, this is a little treat. For those still watching and waiting, perhaps another reason to support the campaign.

Every backer at the Digital, Physical and All-In tiers will get a 100% FREE PDF copy of my Dodeca RPG, the game that started my new design career and the basis for Heroic Deeds!

The fantastic Dodeca cover art by Diogo Nogueira

This has the same skeleton as Heroic Deeds, but there have been some revisions and fleshing out into a more complete and whole roleplaying game since 2021. So Dodeca is bare bones, but a lot of fun.

From DrivethruRPG

This will be fulfilled, through DriveThruRPG, within 2 weeks of the campaign ending and I'll throw in some Sheets & Handouts that'll help you play the game.

I'm also going to split our next Stretch goal into two, with half the total reward assigned to each. I really love making adventure locations! So the next two stretch goals are:

  • £6,500 - 2 adventure locations (the Ruined Outpost and Mountain Tollkeep)
  • £7,000 - 2 adventure locations (the Claw of Throx and Plundered Armoury)

These will add to the locations already voted for on the Heroic Deeds Discord: the Fallen Laboratory, Crashed Skyberg, Overgrown Forge, and Shattered Temple). All great locations within which to perform Heroic Deeds.

Let's see if we can't unlock those 2 remaining stretch goals before the end of the campaign!

Pete

Monster Monday 4 - DRAGON!
over 2 years ago – Mon, Feb 26, 2024 at 01:17:25 PM

Hello Adventurer!

So we're now into counting hours, rather than days. As I type this update we are 122% backed, with one stretch goal down, and I'm so grateful for all the support people have given me on this campaign. I am so pleased Heroic Deeds is funded, and I now get to make this game for my supporters.

If you haven't backed and are watching the campaign - now is the time - officially the iron is hot - the chickens are hatching. So join me on this adventure and back Heroic Deeds!

Did someone say Dragon!?!?

Today for our final Monster Monday, yes we're nearly there, we have a Fallen Stardrake. This is the big boy - we're talking dragons! Now this is a serious opponent for any band of warriors out in the wilds, so deploy with care.

This beast has a variety of tricks that will challenge the party. Like the Deathwielder, it can see and target Divine Loci, but it also has some extremely nasty capabilities. The worst of which is it's Volatile Breath, which fires a stream of reality breaking disruption at it's foes.

I hope this and the other monsters I've provided have added to your understanding of the game and setting, and maybe even given you some beasties to throw at your table.

We still have more Adventures in Lollygagging and Garblag Games actual plays this week, so there is more still to come.

More soon,

Pete

1st Stretch Goal Unlocked - More Art from Douglas Deri!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Feb 25, 2024 at 12:39:04 PM

Hello Adventurers!

We are a just few days away from the end of the campaign and we've just hit our first stretch goal! Thank you so much to everyone who has backed this campaign.

Douglas Deri joined the project earlier in the week, and now we can get more of his awesome art for the book! Douglas' style (as I said previously) is suitably heroic and epic for our game, I can't wait to get him painting the World Mountain, and all it's most fantastical elements.

The Heroic Deeds book is going to have some epic fantasy art thanks to Douglas Deri! https://www.artstation.com/douglasderi

At £7,000 I'll be adding 4 more adventure locations (in pdf format - so beneficial to all tiers). We had a poll today for the core book locations, and I'll be sharing more options soon if we reach the next Stretch Goal. This adds more maps, monsters, and more to Heroic Deeds.

More soon,

Pete
